How we collect it
The container decides the grade.
Material that gets mixed on the floor cannot be un-mixed at the scale. Placing the right container at the point of generation is the single highest-return change most facilities make.
10-60 cubic yard roll-off
The workhorse for mixed ferrous, plant cleanouts and construction scrap. Sized to your dock and your volume.
Sealed roll-off
Lidded and locked for weather-sensitive or theft-prone material - copper, wire and non-ferrous.
Questions
Steel & Iron — the questions we get
- Does Custom Recycling buy steel & iron scrap?
- Yes. We buy steel & iron scrap from industrial and commercial accounts across the Carolinas, including plate and structural offcuts, stamping skeletons and punchings, cast iron, sheet and duct work. Material is weighed on certified scales and graded before settlement.
- Which industries do you collect steel & iron from?
- Most commonly metal fabrication, stamping and machining, construction and demolition, equipment manufacturing. If your process generates it as a by-product, there is almost certainly a container configuration that captures it cleanly.
- Do I need to separate steel grades before pickup?
- Not into fine grades, but keeping plate and structural separate from light sheet, turnings and cast iron is worth real money. An account rep will tell you exactly where the profitable splits are for your process — usually two or three containers rather than one.
